กว่าจะเป็นวันนี้ของ “อุทยานสิ่งแวดล้อมนานาชาติสิรินธร” The Sirindhorn International Environmental Park: As It Is Today จากความตั้งใจของผู้บริหารงานโครงการ Intentions and Purposes ท่ามกลางกระแสเปลี่ยนแปลง และการเกิดวิกฤตการณ์ด้านสิ่งแวดล้อมที่กำลังทวีความรุนแรง เพิ่มขึ้นเรื่อยๆ ไม่ว่าจะเป็นฝนตกไม่ตรงฤดูกาล น้ำท่วมใหญ่ แผ่นดินไหว ภาวะโลกร้อน น้ำแข็งขั้วโลกละลาย รวมถึงเรื่องของ สถานการณ์พลังงาน ที่ค่อยๆ จะหมดลงไปทุกที ส่งผลให้มนุษย์ให้ ความสำคัญและหันมาสนใจปัญหาสิ่งแวดล้อม ตลอดจน วิกฤตการณ์ด้านพลังงานกันมากขึ้นอย่างเห็นได้ชัด กลายเป็นกระแส ที่เรียกร้องให้ทุกคนทุกประเทศหันมาร่วมมือกัน ช่วยกันรักษา สิ่งแวดล้อม และส่งเสริมการใช้พลังงานทดแทน อุทยานสิ่งแวดล้อมนานาชาติสิรินธร กับภารกิจหลักที่ สำคัญในการทำหน้าที่เป็นศูนย์เผยแพร่ สร้างความรู้ ความเข้าใจ และเกิดความตระหนักด้านพลังงานและสิ่งแวดล้อม เน้นการสร้าง จิตสำนึกการมีส่วนร่วมต่อการดูแลรักษาสิ่งแวดล้อม ตลอดจนการใช้ พลังงานอย่างคุ้มค่า ทำให้อุทยานฯ ได้รับความสนใจและเป็นที่รู้จัก มากยิ่งขึ้น ด้วยพระมหากรุณาธิคุณของสมเด็จพระเทพรัตนราชสุดาฯ สยามบรมราชกุมารี ที่ได้พระราชทานพระราชานุญาตให้อัญเชิญ พระนามาภิไธยเป็นนามอุทยานว่า “อุทยานสิ่งแวดล้อมนานาชาติ สิรินธร” แต่ความหมายในอีกนัยหนึ่งสะท้อนให้เห็นว่า เรื่อง สิ่งแวดล้อมต้องเป็นเรื่องที่ทุกคนทุกประเทศต้องตระหนักและร่วมมือ กันดูแลรักษา เพราะปัญหาสิ่งแวดล้อมที่เกิดขึ้นทุกวันนี้ล้วนมาจาก ผลการกระทำหรือพฤติกรรมการใช้ชีวิตของมนุษย์เป็นสำคัญ The global wave of change as the environmental crisis, whether the substantial shift of rainy season, the big floods, the strong earthquakes, the melting of the polar ice due to global warming as well as the depletion of energy sources, has become increasingly violent and drew more and more human attention. This calls all people of all nations work together to help preserve their environments and promote the use of renewable energy. The principal mission of the Sirindhorn International Environmental Park (SIEP) is to be a knowledge center for building up the public awareness and participation in energy efficiency and environment preservation; simultaneously, is to make the Park internationally recognized. SIEP has been named after HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn through her beneficence. The title, in other words, is a sign to us that everyone must be now aware and work together to keep the environment healthy since the environmental problems are mostly the results from our activities. 12 บทสัมภาษณ์พิเศษ / Exclusive Interview
