After that, there was expansion of the mangrove planting area by the action of Acting Police Sub-Lieutenant Ari Suwanchinda and the planting increased to 105 Rais (1 Rai is equal to 0.16 hectare) with Rhizophora apiculata, Rhizophora mucronata, Avicennia marina, Bruguiera gymnorrhiza, Ceriops tagal, Bruguiera cylindrical, and Nypa fruticans, for example. Until now, this area is complete restored. An ecological study of this area indicates that there should be a further development in order to get more new knowledge to benefit the public. Therefore, this place is open for ordinary people, instructors and researchers in- and outside the country to join and learn about nature of ecosystem, mangrove plantation, cycling and relationship among soil, water, and aquatic species as well as energy conservation. All of these are the reason led to SIEP; meanwhile, to celebrate the 48th birthday anniversary of the Princess. In the end, we have launched this journal to introduce SIEP to let the readers know our findings and other important information about environment, ecosystems, and energy. Please read the journal seriously and analyze for the curious issues you want to know from SIEP activities. I also would like you to visit in order to have a real touch at SIEP. Hopefully, these will appreciate and benefit you precisely. หลังจากนั้นได้มีการขยายพื้นที่ปลูกป่าชายเลนบริเวณนี้ มากขึ้น โดยว่าที่ร้อยตรี อารี สุวรรณจินดา เป็นผู้ดำเนินการ และได้ ปลูกเพิ่มเติมในพื้นที่ 105 ไร่ โดยใช้ไม้โกงกางใบเล็ก โกงกางใบใหญ่ แสมทะเล พังกางหัวสุมดอกแดง โปรงแดง ถั่วขาว และต้นจาก เป็นต้น จนบัดนี้พื้นที่บริเวณนี้ได้พื้นฟูกลับไปสู่พื้นที่ป่าชายเลนจน สมบูรณ์อีกครั้งหนึ่ง การศึกษาวิจัยถึงระบบนิเวศในพื้นที่แห่งนี้ทำให้เราเห็นว่า พื้นที่แห่งนี้ควรจะมีการพัฒนาให้ก้าวหน้าและจะได้องค์ความรู้ที่จะ นำไปเผยแพร่สู่วงกว้างต่อไป เพื่อเป็นประโยชน์แก่ส่วนรวม จึงได้ จัดตั้งเป็นสถานที่ที่เปิดโอกาสให้ผู้คนทั่วไป ครูบาอาจารย์ นักวิจัยทั้ง ภายในและต่างประเทศได้เข้ามาเรียนรู้ศึกษาระบบนิเวศ การปลูก และคุณค่าของป่าชายเลน ทำให้เห็นว่ามีการหมุนเวียนวงจรชีวิต และความสัมพันธ์ของดิน น้ำ สัตว์น้ำต่างๆ ตลอดจนการอนุรักษ์ พลังงาน เหตุผลนี้จึงเป็นที่มาของ อุทยานสิ่งแวดล้อมนานาชาติ สิรินธร ขณะเดียวกันเพื่อเป็นการเฉลิมฉลองชนมพรรษา 48 พรรษา ด้วย สุดท้ายนี้การที่พวกเราได้มีการจัดทำวารสารครั้งนี้เพื่อเป็น วารสารเชิงแนะนำ อุทยานสิ่งแวดล้อมนานาชาติสิรินธรแห่งนี้ถึง ความสำคัญสาระข้อมูลให้ความรู้ต่างๆ เกี่ยวกับสิ่งแวดล้อม ระบบ นิเวศ และพลังงานหลายด้าน ขอให้ผู้รับได้อ่านให้ลึกซึ้ง แล้ว สังเคราะห์ในสิ่งที่เราอยากรู้อยากเห็นจากกิจกรรมของอุทยานฯ และ ขอเชิญทุกท่านเข้ามาเยี่ยมและสัมผัสจริงในพื้นที่ สิ่งเหล่านี้จะทำให้ เข้าใจ และสามารถนำไปใช้ประโยชน์ได้อย่างแท้จริง วารสารอุทยานสิ่งแวดล้อมนานาชาติสิรินธร Journal of the Sirindhorn International Environmental Park 21
