วารสารอุทยานสิ่งแวดล้อมนานาชาติสิรินธร Journal of the Sirindhorn International Environmental Park สะพานที่เป็นส่วนหนึ่งของเส้นทางการศึกษาและเยี่ยมชมระบบนิเวศป่าชายเลน The Bridge that be a part of learning and visiting the mangrove ecosystem. จัดการศึกษาเพื่อพัฒนาอย่างยั่งยืนจากมหาวิทยาลัยสหประชาชาติ (United Nations University) ซึ่งนับเป็นศูนย์การเรียนรู้ในภูมิภาค แห่งที่ 55 ของโลก จุดเด่นของศูนย์การเรียนรู้สากลแห่งนี้ คือ สภาพ ภูมิประเทศอันหลากหลาย ตั้งแต่ภูเขาจนถึงชายฝั่งทะเล อันเป็น พื้นที่ที่เกิดจากการทับถมของตะกอนดินทรายเก่าแก่นับพันปี งอก ยื่นเป็นหาดทรายยาว 3 กิโลเมตร การทับถมของชั้นตะกอนดิน ทำให้เกิดหาดทรายที่สวยงามและป่าชายเลนที่อุดมสมบูรณ์ เป็น สภาพภูมิประเทศที่จำลองสภาพทุกๆ พื้นที่ของประเทศมารวมอยู่ ในที่เดียวกัน และยังเป็นแหล่งเรียนรู้ธรรมชาติของป่าบกกับ ป่าชายเลนที่สำคัญอีกด้วย ภายในอุทยานสิ่งแวดล้อมนานาชาติสิรินธร ยังได้ก่อตั้ง ศูนย์พลังงานเพื่อสิ่งแวดล้อม เพื่อเผยแพร่ความรู้เกี่ยวกับ การประหยัดพลังงาน โดยได้รับการสนับสนุนงบประมาณจาก กองทุนเพื่อส่งเสริมการอนุรักษ์พลังงาน สำนักงานนโยบายและ แผนพลังงาน กระทรวงพลังงาน และจัดทำค่ายฝึกอบรมด้าน การอนุรักษ์พลังงาน ทรัพยากรธรรมชาติและสิ่งแวดล้อม ภายใน deciduous forest and habitats of various species. It also acts as a center to promote ecotourism and historical tourism of high values both to Thailand and the world. Currently, SIEP is officially recognized as a Regional Centre of Expertise (RCE) on Education for Sustainable Development by the United Nations University. It was established as the 55th Regional Centre of Expertise of the world. One of the highlights of this RCE is the wide variety of topography from mountain to coast, which was originated from thousand years of deposition of sandy sediment and created a 3 kilometers long sandy beach. The sedimentary deposits generated beautiful beaches and fertile mangroves. These types of topography replicate almost all types of land in the country into one place. It is thus a nature learning place for terrestrial and mangrove forests. SIEP also founded the Energy for Environment Centre to disseminate knowledge about energy saving. It 7
