This publication features case studies presented at the International Conference on “Climate Change, Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services for the Sustainable Development Goals: Policy and Practice” held in Cha-am, Phetchaburi, Thailand on 27-29 June 2016. Many of these case studies were conducted and authored by participants from various Regional Centres of Expertise on Education for Sustainable Development (RCEs) located in the Asia-Pacific region, which are acknowledged by the United Nations University. UNU-IAS is committed to actively promoting and delivering Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) as a means to implement the 2030 Agenda and to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). All communities are expected to be able to use research, teaching and training to address their specific development needs, and to keep in mind that sustainable development goals and targets are interconnected. UNU-IAS’ broader mission is to advance efforts towards a more sustainable future, through policy-oriented research and capacity development focused on sustainability. UNU-IAS’ collaboration in producing this book of proceedings is anchored in its ESD Programme towards advocacy and public awareness on ESD, promotion of RCEs, strengthening of ESD activities of higher education institutions, advancing ESD knowledge through capacity building, and participation in international ESD processes. It is hoped that this publication will constitute a useful reading and inspire individuals and organizations to contribute towards actions to combating climate change as well as protecting biodiversity and ecosystem services.
