The second thing was to arrange the proposed activities. After the recruitment, the activities had been produced, not limited to the inside-the-Park actions. In relation to the Sirindhorn International Environmental Park, the “environment” is a big word referring to everything naturally occurring around us, e.g., soil, water, and air. In other words, everything in this world is connected to each other and also to our lives as a linking chain. The environmental impact occurs in other country can influence to our country also, as we experienced before and lately. Therefore, the activities leading to public awareness in environmental conservation can be the main action to achieve the overall goal of SIEP which is to be a public center for learning and getting information about the natural resources, energy, and environmental problems. Not to forget that the “international” in the park’s title which indicates the inclusive missions of SIEP to be done inside and outside Thailand. Within our country, SIEP’s task is to get the public well understand how the energy, soil, water, wind, and other environmental factors involve and link up to humans and society. Thanks to Professor Dr. Mario T. Tabucanon, the former vice president at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), for the went-well international cooperation. His skillful expertise in environmental issues has been recognized worldwide especially among international agencies, such as the United Nations (UN), the ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity (ACB). The Southeast Asian Youth Environment Network Conference and Memorandum of Cooperation between the ACB and SIEP are one of the examples of SIEP activities. บทสัมภาษณ์พิเศษ / Exclusive Interview เรื่องที่สองเป็นเรื่องของการจัดวางกิจกรรม เมื่อทำการ สรรหาบุคลากรเรียบร้อย สิ่งที่ต้องทำขั้นต่อไปคือเรื่องกิจกรรมต่างๆ ให้ปรากฏขึ้น ซึ่งเป็นกิจกรรมที่ไม่ได้จำกัดอยู่แค่ในพื้นที่เท่านั้น คำว่า “อุทยานสิ่งแวดล้อมนานาชาติสิรินธร” นั้น คำว่า “สิ่งแวดล้อม” คือคำโต ทุกสิ่งทุกอย่างที่อยู่รอบตัวเราก็คือสิ่งแวดล้อมทั้งสิ้น ไม่ว่า จะเป็น ดิน น้ำ ลม ไฟ อีกนัยหนึ่ง ก็คือชีวิตเรานั่นเอง ทุกสิ่งทุกอย่างที่อยู่รอบตัวเราในทุกๆ ที่ มีเกี่ยวข้องเป็นห่วงโซ่ กันหมด ไม่ใช่ว่ามีการทำลายสิ่งแวดล้อมอีกประเทศหนึ่งจะไม่มี ผลกระทบมาถึงประเทศไทย ทุกวันนี้มีให้เห็นแล้ว ไม่ว่าที่ไหน ทำลายระบบนิเวศหรือสิ่งแวดล้อม ก็เข้ามากระทบประเทศไทยได้ เหมือนกัน เพราะฉะนั้นการสร้างกิจกรรมให้เข้าถึงบุคคลทั่วไปให้มี จิตสำนึกจึงเป็นอีกเรื่องของความสำคัญ มีสาระเพียงพอที่จะให้ สอดคล้องกับวัตถุประสงค์ของอุทยานสิ่งแวดล้อมนานาชาติสิรินธร ที่ต้องการให้เป็นแหล่งเรียนรู้ ถ่ายทอดความเข้าอกเข้าใจของผู้คน ในบ้านในเมืองนี้ ให้มันเกิดความเข้าใจเกี่ยวกับปัญหาที่เกิดกับ สิ่งแวดล้อม อีกส่วนหนึ่งที่ต้องไม่ลืมคือ คำว่า “นานาชาติ” งานที่ อุทยานสิ่งแวดล้อมนานาชาติสิรินธรไม่ได้จำกัดขอบเขตอยู่ใน ประเทศเท่านั้น สิ่งที่ต้องทำจะต้องเกี่ยวข้องกับนานาชาติด้วย ภารกิจนี้จะต้องดูแลทั้งในและนอกประเทศ ในประเทศจะทำให้เกิด ความเข้าใจได้อย่างไร และทำอย่างไรให้บุคคลทั่วไปได้เข้าใจเรื่อง พลังงาน ดิน น้ำ ลม ไฟ ว่าเป็นสิ่งเกี่ยวข้องกับชีวิต เกี่ยวข้องกับ บ้านเมืองอย่างแท้จริง สำหรับในส่วนนานาชาติที่ดำเนินงานไปได้ด้วยดีต้อง ขอขอบคุณ ศาสตราจารย์ ดร. มาริโอ ที. ทาบูกานอน ซึ่งเป็นอดีตรอง อธิการบดีสถาบันเทคโนโลยีแห่งเอเชีย ซึ่งส่วนนี้ ศาสตราจารย์ ดร. มาริโอ มีความชำนาญและกว้างขวางมากในต่างประเทศ การทำงานมีงาน เกี่ยวข้องกับสหประชาชาติ (United Nations - UN) จัดการประชุม อาเซียน เยาวชนอาเซียน เกี่ยวกับเรื่องสิ่งแวดล้อม ล่าสุดได้มีการ ลงนามบันทึกข้อตกลงความร่วมมือระหว่างมูลนิธิอุทยานสิ่งแวดล้อม นานาชาติสิรินธร ในพระราชูปถัมภ์สมเด็จพระเทพรัตนราชสุดา ฯ สยามบรมราชกุมารี (มอนส) กับศูนย์อาเซียนว่าด้วยความหลากหลาย ทางชีวภาพ (ACB: ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity) ที่ตั้งอยู่ที่ ฟิลิปปินส์ ดูแลเกี่ยวกับการอนุรักษ์ความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพใน ระดับภูมิภาค งานด้านต่างประเทศก็พัฒนาเป็นที่รู้จักพอสมควร ดร. สุเมธ ตันติเวชกุล ประธานกรรมการมูลนิธิอุทยานสิ่งแวดล้อมนานาชาติสิรินธรฯ Dr. Sumet Tantivejkul, Chairman of SIEP Foundation. ดร. สุเมธ ตันติเวชกุล ร่วมกิจกรรมปลูกป่าชายเลนกับคณาจารย์และนักศึกษาจากสถาบันพระปกเกล้า Dr. Sumet Tantivejkul joins mangrove plantation activity with faculty and graduate students of King Prajadhipok’s Institute. 16
