การเข้ามารับหน้าที่ในที่นี้ถือเป็นเรื่องดี เป็นความพอใจที่ได้ ถวายงานตั่งแต่ปี 2524 เป็นต้นมาในฐานะต่างๆ เป็นวาสนาความ โชคดี แต่เหนือสิ่งอื่นใดทำให้เราเปี่ยมปิติยิ่งขึ้น เพราะงานทุกงาน เป็นงานเพื่อประเทศชาติและประชาชน สิ่งเหล่านี้ก็เป็นกุศล ซึ่งจริง แล้วไม่ว่าจะเป็นงานพระราชดำริพระองค์ใด ก็พร้อมที่จะสนองให้ ทั้งหมดเพราะ “ผมอยู่ในเครือข่ายพระราชดำริอยู่แล้ว” ในอีกแง่มุม หนึ่ง ก็เป็นการเผยแพร่การศึกษาด้านสิ่งแวดล้อมออกสู่สาธารณชน ได้นำไปใช้ไปปฏิบัติได้จริง “เมื่อรับงานใหม่ๆ ก็หนักใจมาก เพราะตัว ผมเองก็ไม่ได้ชำนาญในด้านใด ผมเป็นคนที่บริหารธรรมดาคนหนึ่ง อย่างไรก็ตาม ทำงานคนเดียวไม่ได้หรอก ระยะแรกผมพยายามเอา ผู้รู้ต่างๆ เรื่องสิ่งแวดล้อม เอาเข้ามาร่วมในที่นี้ได้มากที่สุด เพราะตัว เราเป็นแค่บริหารการจัดการ ทำสิ่งให้มันเกิดขึ้น” ปัจจุบันก็มีบริษัทเอกชนเข้ามาร่วมเป็นเครือข่ายมากขึ้น ซึ่ง สิ่งเหล่านี้สะท้อนให้เห็นว่าเป้าหมายที่วางไว้ได้เป็นไปตามแผน แต่ ยังไม่สมบูรณ์เต็มที่ ความจริงแล้วอุทยานสิ่งแวดล้อมนานาชาติ สิรินธร ยังไม่สามารถเลี้ยงตัวเองได้ สิ่งที่ปรารถนาที่สุดและต้อง ประกาศไว้ดังๆ “ความสมบูรณ์จะเกิดขึ้นได้ก็ต่อเมื่อศูนย์นี้เลี้ยง ตัวเองได้ มีกองทุนหมุนเวียนได้ แต่ตราบใดที่ต้องขอความช่วยเหลือ แบมือของบประมาณอยู่ถือว่ายังไม่สมบูรณ์แบบ” หากจะมองถึงการทำงานในส่วนของอุทยานสิ่งแวดล้อม นานาชาติสิรินธร เป็นการอนุรักษ์ธรรมชาติ เกี่ยวข้องกับการรักชาติ ได้อย่างไร อยากให้มองอย่างนี้ว่า การรักษาชาติบ้านเมืองไม่ได้เป็น รูปธรรม ที่เข้าใจแท้จริงคือรูปธรรมที่เป็นได้ชัดเจน ชาติบ้านเมืองก็ ประกอบไปด้วยดิน น้ำ ลม ไฟ เป็นส่วนประกอบ หากไม่มี ส่วนประกอบนี้จะเป็นชาติบ้านเมืองได้อย่างไร ซึ่งความจริงชีวิตเราก็ อยู่ในนั้นแหละ หากเราไม่รักษาให้ดีแล้วประเทศชาติจะอยู่ได้ อย่างไร เมื่อประเทศชาติอยู่ไม่ได้ เราก็อยู่ไม่ได้ ความละเอียดอ่อน คือการถ่ายทอดความรู้สึก บทบาทของเราที่เป็นสมาชิกคนหนึ่ง ประชาชนคนหนึ่ง ต้องทำอย่างไร ไม่ใช่ว่านั่งฟังเข้าใจแล้วปล่อยไป เฉยๆ อย่างไรก็ตาม ถึงแม้ว่าความสมบูรณ์ยังไม่ร้อยเปอร์เซ็นต์ แต่ก็ ใช้งานได้ ตัววัดว่ามันทำงานได้คือ มีคนเข้ามาหรือเปล่า ตราบใดที่มี คนเข้ามาแสดงว่าผลผลิตเรามีคนต้องการ ก็น่าดีใจว่ามีทั้งนักเรียน กลุ่มคนต่างๆ ทยอยกันเข้ามาใช้ ดูงาน ร่วมกิจกรรม สิ่งที่อยากจะให้เป็นในอนาคตคือการสร้างกระบวนการให้ เกิดความเข้าใจให้แก่สาธารณะ และดึงบุคคลเข้ามาได้มากขึ้น เข้าถึงทุกเพศทุกวัย และรำลึกได้ถึงการรักษาสิ่งแวดล้อม สุดท้ายอยากจะฝากให้ผู้อ่าน ให้คำนึงถึงแง่คิดดีๆ ว่า ถ้า เราไม่รักษาแผ่นดิน ประเทศชาติแล้ว เราจะไปอยู่ที่ไหน เพราะความ จริงประเทศชาติก็คือ ดิน น้ำ ลม ไฟ ที่หล่อเลี้ยงชีวิตเราอยู่ทุกวันนี้ และเราก็ทำลายไปทุกวัน โดยไม่รู้ตัวเอง แล้วเราทำอะไรเพื่อต่อชีวิต เราบ้างไหม ทำอะไรเพื่อสิ่งแวดล้อมบ้าง วารสารอุทยานสิ่งแวดล้อมนานาชาติสิรินธร Journal of the Sirindhorn International Environmental Park To take this responsibility since 1981 was my most pleasure and satisfaction. Above all other things, the gratification was due to my effort to make progress for the nation and all Thai people. These were charities. I was ready and willing to work for the Royals- “I am in the network of Royal Development Projects in which initiatives are taken forward and environmental knowledge must be disseminated to the public for real practice. At the beginning, I was so worried about the job because I did not have expertise in this field; I am just an ordinary manager and cannot complete the whole job alone. So, I had looked for experts in environmental field to join the team as much as I could to make things happen.” Currently, many private companies have joined our network. This situation reflects the achievement of the goal of the plan, even though it is not absolutely completed at this moment. SIEP is, however, still cannot survive. The fully self-reliant of the Park is our probably most ambitious goal. It can be said that the completeness of SIEP can be reached whenever the fund to the Park is regularly available and stable. When considering the works of SIEP, it is the conservation of nature, which help the nation. I want you to think about how can you care for the nature? I want you to notice by keeping our nation stable. Indeed, the clear understanding on the components of our land, e.g., our soil, water, wind and energy is linking to the nation. Without these components, we would never have a land or a nation at all. So, we have to play our roles in taking responsibilities and transfer our awareness to others; just listening is not enough. Even though we cannot get the complete result just now, it still fairly works. The indicator for this success is the numbers of people who come to visit the Park. I am glad that many students and interested groups have visited and joined activities at the Park. What I want to see in the future is that the process for public understanding can be run effectively and people of all ages are responsive of environmental conservation. Last but not least, I would like to leave the message to all readers please keep in mind positively that if we do not conserve or protect our land or our nation now, where will we live in the future. Due to the fact that natural resources and energy are belongs to our land and we destroy them unintentionally every day, so I think it is the time we have to think to do for our environment. 17
